Privateers Hit Triple Digits in Opener

SR G Jordan Johnson
In the 2023-24 basketball season opener, New Orleans moved past a sluggish start to defeat Millsaps 100-70.

With UNO struggling to shake its Division III opponent early, a 12-0 run helped them break a 30-30 tie and get separation, which they never relinquished.  The Privateers (1-0) coasted from then on, leading 57-39 at the half and eventually winning by the final margin of 30.

Despite hitting the 100-point mark, New Orleans did not have any individual scorers higher than 18 points (Jordan Johnson).  Omar Henry had 17 and freshman Jah Short 13 to aid UNO's balanced attack.  Turk Vincent struggled shooting-wise, but contributed a team-leading 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.

UNO will face SUNO in Saturday's Homecoming matchup.  Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
