New Orleans (0-1) was never in this one, trailing early to the host Butler Bulldogs, falling behind by double digits and ultimately trailing 46-21 at halftime. It did not get any better in the second half, and the Privateers fell by an 89-53 final.
Jordan Johnson was a bright spot for UNO, notching 15 points in his debut including 4-for-7 from downtown. Tyson Jackson added 14 but, in a game where the Privateer bigs were hoping to be a force, only garnered one rebound. New Orleans was outscored 54-24 in the paint.
The home opener is Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., homecoming, against St. Francis (Illinois).
