Robinson: 13 pts, 8 rebs |
New Orleans (6-13, 2-7) led 41-33 at the half, but the host Islanders opened the second half on a 15-3 run to take the lead. UNO fought back, and the teams took turns taking the lead for the remainder of the contest. The Privateers just couldn't come up with a stop late when they needed one, and TAMU-CC was able to hit critical free throws late to seal the win.
Jaylen Key led UNO with 14 points but battled through foul trouble, playing just 22 minutes. Bryson Robinson added 13 to go along with a team-leading 8 boards, but the former national FT% leader missed three foul shots, including a critical one late. Troy Green and Charles Bohannon added 10 each.
New Orleans returns home for a battle against state rival Nicholls on Saturday at Lakefront Arena.
