Zeno had 15 points, including 13 in the first half |
New Orleans, in a hotly contested conference race, maintained the pace by finding a way past the Cowboys using some unheralded scoring threats. Erik Thomas ended up leading the way with 16 points with some late scores, but it was Michael Zeno with 15 and Jorge Rosa with 14, including four critical three-pointers, that helped to save UNO on this night.
After trailing for much of the game, including 17-6 early, the Bucs took the lead for good in the second half at 42-41 on a Rosa triple.
By virtue of Lamar's overtime victory over Sam Houston tonight, New Orleans reclaims sole possession of first place in the Southland Conference.
Next up for the Privateers is a showdown with Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond on Saturday night. UNO fell to the Lions three times in a two-week span last season, the final time in the conference tournament. This game will be televised on ESPN3.
