In a series that concluded with a Ron Maestri tirade and ejection, the Privateers (14-33, 3-21) fell for the third time this weekend to Abilene Christian at Maestri Field.
In the series' first two games, UNO lost 8-6 on Friday night after building a 6-2 advantage and squandering it in a five-run seventh inning. On Saturday, New Orleans fell 7-3 despite getting 13 strikeouts from starter Kevin Kelleher.
In Sunday's game, ACU used a six-hit barrage in the fifth inning, aided by three Privateer errors, to score seven runs and blow open a close game. During the frame, coach Ron Maestri was tossed arguing that ACU's Marcelle Carter ran inside the baseline, causing UNO's third error of the inning on a wild throw.
There are no midweek games this week; the Privateers return to action at Nicholls on Friday evening.
