The Privateers opened the 2015 baseball campaign the same way they left off in 2014, squandering an early lead en route to an error-riddled loss in Friday's season opener. This time, the victor was the South Alabama Jaguars by a 7-3 score, as they and New Orleans renewed an old Sun Belt rivalry to start the season.
In game two, South Alabama used a four-run sixth to extend their lead en route to a comfortable 8-2 win on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Shawn Semple started on the mound and only gave up one run in 3 2/3 innings, but he took the loss.
The third of this three-game series was won again by South Alabama by an 8-6 final. Newcomer Preston Marsh led the way with two hits and two runs batted in, but UNO was done in by shaky relief pitching after jumping out to an early 4-0 lead.
