The Privateers (2-3) won their second in a row Friday night, taking their home opener against Alcorn State, 5-0. Freshman Shawn Semple dominated the Braves, striking out 10 and surrendering just one hit in 6 2/3 innings to get the win.Fellow newcomer Ryan Calloway, a JUCO transfer, led the New Orleans offensive attack with two hits and two RBIs. Calloway also later scored from second base on an infield hit by Preston Marsh. Samuel Capielano added two RBIs of his own for UNO.
The Privateers will take on Southern at Maestri Field tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. It will be the second of their three games in the MLB Urban Youth Invitational and will be televised on the MLB Network.
