After blowing an early 4-0 lead, the Privateers (1-3) went ahead for good in the sixth inning on a two-RBI single by Sam Carriere, and were carried home to the victory on the strength of effective relief pitching by Jordan Priddle and Jared Taylor. The final was 7-6.New Orleans will open at home this Friday night as part of the MLB Urban Youth Invitational. Each of the three days will feature doubleheaders, with UNO playing one of the three participants while the other game matches up the other two participants.
Friday night's contest at Maestri Field will match up the Privateers with Alcorn State at 6 p.m.
