Islanders Finish Sweep of Privateers

Ahhh. Maybe the best uniform
combination of all time.
For the third time in two days, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (15-15, 6-3 SLC) escaped Maestri Field with a one-run decision over the New Orleans Privateers (8-17, 1-8.) The Privateers led the game 2-0 in the middle innings, but the Islanders rallied for a 3-2 victory in ten innings.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (14-15, 5-3 SLC) swept a well-pitched and well-played doubleheader from the New Orleans Privateers (8-16, 1-7) by scores of 1-0 (10 innings)
and 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Maestri Field.

Privateers Finish Sweep of Alcorn

New Orleans (8-14) won its second game in a row and swept a two-game midweek series from Alcorn State.

The Privateers earned a 10-5 victory, led by Jonathan Coco's three hits and two RBI. Reese Kanter reached in all five of his at-bats, going 2-for-2 with three walks, and Samuel Capielano and Hezekiah Randolph added two hits each. UNO also got five effective innings from Blake Prest in relief.

Privateers Hold Off Alcorn St.


On a ridiculously windy and chilly night on the Lakefront, the Privateers defeated Alcorn State 6-3. New Orleans (7-14) scored all six runs in the first two innings, then held off the Braves (3-23) the remainder of the game.

HBU Sweeps UNO in Doubleheader

After notching their first Southland win yesterday, New Orleans (6-14, 1-5) was swept at Houston Baptist on Saturday afternoon. The Privateers got a strong starting pitching effort from Nick Halliday in game two but scored only three runs total in the two games, falling 9-2 and 6-1.

Privateers get first SLC win

The Privateers (6-12, 1-3) took advantage of a shaky Houston Baptist defense and an excellent pitching performance from Alex Smith to eke out a 2-1 victory over the Huskies in Houston.

The win is New Orleans' first baseball victory in the Southland Conference.

UNO Whips the Wave

The Privateers (5-12) ended a five-game losing streak with a convincing 7-3 win over Tulane. The Privateers pitching staff carried a no-hitter into the eighth when, with two outs and nobody on down 7-0, the Green Wave broke it up with a bunt single.

New Orleans freshman Hunter Medine pitched five hitless, scoreless innings for the win in his first collegiate start.

Sam Houston Rallies Past UNO

Hezekiah Randolph blasted a three-run homer in the first inning for the first runs scored at the renovated Maestri Field, but Sam Houston scored the next six en route to a 6-3 victory over New Orleans. The nationally ranked Bearkats scored two in the third and one each in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh.

Tomorrow's game against SHSU has been changed to a doubleheader due to impending inclement weather expected on Sunday. Game one will still begin at 2 p.m.

Troy beats UNO, Wins Series

The Privateers (4-9) dropped a three-game series at Troy after losing Sunday afternoon's rubber match, 3-2.

Nick Halliday pitched six effective innings for New Orleans.  Raymond Winter took the loss in relief after surrendering the tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the seventh.  Freshman Nick Morgan went 2-for-4 with an RBI for UNO.

Hoops, Baseball Fall On The Road

The Privateers (11-15, 8-10) fell in the season finale at Sam Houston by an 80-61 count.  Like on Thursday, the Privateers fell behind by 20+ points, fought back strong in the second half, but ultimately dug too deep a hole. Cory Dixon had 19 points and 10 rebounds in his final game for New Orleans.

Privateers Beat Troy 5-3 in 13

Freshman Hez Randolph doubled in a pair of runs in the 13th inning to lift New Orleans to a 5-3 win over Troy in game one of a three game series Friday night.

The Privateers (4-7) had tied the game in the eighth inning on a solo home run by Reese Kanter. After a very solid start by Alex Smith, New Orleans got brilliant relief outings by Seth Laigast and Hunter Medine. Laigast replaced Smith in the seventh inning, then pitched five innings of scoreless relief. Twice he escaped bases loaded jams, including a bases loaded nobody out jam in the eighth inning. Medine, a freshman, picked up his first collegiate win pitching the final two innings. He has yet to allow a run in six appearances.

Game two of the three game series is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Darron McKigney is expected to start for the Privateers against reigning Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year Shane McCain for Troy.

The Privateers (11-14, 8-9) fell behind big early and trailed by as many as 27 points in the second half, eventually falling to Lamar in Beaumont by a 89-72 score. New Orleans rallied in the second half and got as close as 12 but dug too deep a hole against the Cardinals, who entered the contest with just three wins on the season.

Freshman James Harrison had a career high 17 for UNO. Sophomore Kevin Hill recorded his fourth consecutive double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Demons Drill UNO In Home Finale

The Privateers fell behind by double digits in the first half and never recovered, falling to the Northwestern State Demons by an 84-71 score at Lakefront Arena on Saturday night.

Sophomore Kevin Hill led New Orleans with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Cory Dixon added 15 in his final home game at UNO.

Sycamores Dominate Game 2


Indiana State broke open a 1-1 game in the fifth, scoring four off Privateers starter Darron McKigney and another five off the UNO bullpen on their way to a 10-3 rout on Saturday afternoon.
